PPS

Abstract

After gaining several years of experience in providing positioning support to various kinds of offshore and inshore pile-driving operations STEMA Survey Services designed a sophisticated system for pile positioning.
The STEMA Pile positioning System (PPS) provides operators with real time rake and position information while pitching or driving piles.
The PPS has been designed with a user-friendly interface making it easily accessible. The PPS consists of a PC with software on board of piling plant, telemetry link and Electronic Positioning System.

Features

-Interfaces to various Positioning Systems:
RTK/DGPS systems: Trimble, NovAtel
-Total Stations: Geodimeter, Zeiss, Leica
-PC / Windows based
-User friendly interface
-Positioning of vertical and rake piles
-Telemetry range up to 10 Km
-Cost effective
-Platform independent, enabling Onshore- and Offshore operations

Operation Modes

Preparation Mode: Before piling operations can commence, pile target information (rake and position) must be entered into the PPS database.

Navigation Mode: After selecting target information, piling platform can be roughly (approx. within 2 meter ) positioned to pile target position.

Piling Mode: user selects the piling mode. Within this mode straight and especially rake piles can be positioned and pitched very accurately. User can monitor pile´s rake and position on the screen. Positions can be logged during pitching process.

Final Position Mode: After placing and/or cutting off piles, the “as-built” position of pile centre can be recorded for reporting purposes.
